About the role:

Responsible to: Head of Services

Job Purpose:

To hold legal responsibility and provide leadership and management of registered children’s home; overseeing and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to young people as part of Bright Path Care integrated service. Managing and developing staff teams and individuals, as well as contributing to the overall objectives of the wider organisation.

  • To respond quickly and appropriately to referrals in line with organisational requirements including matching processes, aspiring to full occupancy levels at all times.
  • To meet organisational Key Performance Indicators as required.
  • To communicate with staff teams effectively, about regulatory requirements, developing their understanding to support the homes delivery of high-quality care.
  • To lead and co-ordinate the development, implementation, and delivery of the young person’s Quality of Life Plan across the integrated services; communicating and setting goals, supporting practice development and ensuring progress is monitored effectively.
  • To communicate effectively with others about a child’s needs as identified in the Quality of Life plan to other professionals, leading the care process where relevant.
  • To manage resources effectively to enable to staff teams to meet all the physical needs of the young person.
  • To actively monitor all aspects service delivery for quality, standards and effectiveness using regulatory reporting mechanisms to do so (Regulation 33/45/32/44).
  • To monitor actively all recording, monitoring, and reporting systems are utilised correctly and to the highest standard.
  • Provide regular feedback, support, and direction to staff teams to ensure that the required quality and standard of service delivery is being met.
  • To participate and contribute to the objectives of the wider organisation, via recruitment, development projects etc.

Content:

  • To apply a comprehensive understanding of the PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) Model of Therapeutic Parenting to develop practice in the home.
  • To co-ordinate the training and lead, the formal professional development of staff teams ensuring that learning is applied in the home and reflected upon in supervisions.
  • To oversee and monitor that all domestic duties in the home are carried to the highest possible standard, role modelling this standard to others and challenging poor practice.
  • To lead the strategic development of all aspects of the home, including a therapeutic homely environment – planning, organising, and delegating to others to assist this process.
  • To be the standard setter in homemaking and care for the fabric, equipment, and grounds of the home and wider organisation, monitoring and overseeing that this standard is understood and met.
  • To monitor and oversee the vigilance of the staff teams in keeping to risk management plans and agreed levels of supervision of young people.
  • To develop skills, knowledge, and experience in accordance with a personal development plan agreed with line manager to develop working practice and set professional goals.

Planning and Organising

Standard:

  • To utilise planning and organisational skills to support Bright Path Care Services to achieve its goals and objectives.

Content:

  • To plan and organise working hours to meet all required objectives and deadlines, submitting a diary every Monday to line manager.
  • To manage the home’s rota to effectively administer yours and others training commitments and annual leave responsibilities.
  • To manage the homes resources, human and financial effectively and provide reports, timesheets etc. in a timely fashion.
  • To manage sickness initiating formal procedures where necessary.
  • To utilise supervisions, appraisal, and formal HR procedures effectively to manage performance of staff teams.
  • To monitor effective planning and running of shifts, providing direction and guidance where required.
  • To be the lead when working with internal and external services / professionals to ensure the continuity of care for young people.
  • To be the lead in the development and implementation of Quality of Life plans to ensure consistency of care for young people and communicate to fellow professionals effectively about these plans.
  • To be fully accountable for the homes petty cash and monitor financial systems and processes to ensure processes are followed correctly.
  • To be accountable for all records, systems and operating procedures of the home as set by line manager, providing feedback to individuals and line manager in this regard.
